A broad dating abroad

Do you sometimes feel you’ve explored all the eligible men in your area who meet your criteria? Perhaps you’ve modified your online searches and lowered your requirements and still no one compelling has expressed mutual interest.

You need to try something new. Dramatically different.

For me, I’m trying not only a different route, but a different continent. I’m expanding my sweetheart quest to Europe. I’m working and playing there for the month of April so am changing my online profile to reflect my temporary home cities. We’ll see what happens.

I’m starting in London for a week. We’ll see if I discover anyone interesting while I’m enjoying business and pleasure activities. I’ve already got a tea date set up with a London red bus driver  I “met” online. (For those who know I’m a job snob, this is clearly a lark.)

Traditional wisdom is that long-distance relationships rarely work. But I’m willing to experiment to broaden my adventure.

Stay tuned for dating stories from a broad abroad, or, at the least, a few travelogues.

You might want to read the book “Around the World in 80 Dates” by Jennifer Cox.

Now DG, what is a job snob? I think I know what you mean…..but I have found that the men with the very high level jobs making lots of money tend to be the worst beaus as they have no time for the relationship.

I have a very hard working computer programmer beau who makes more than I do as a lawyer and I also think he is more intelligent than I am………

    Brenda, see the posting https://datinggoddess.com/a-date-with-a-shepherd/.

I’m sure you’re right about some jobs giving men more time to be with you. I’m afraid I just don’t see myself introducing a beau and telling them “He’s a bus driver.” I know, horribly shallow of me.

I know what you mean, D.G! Perhaps he is a bus driver who is earning his masters in political science! 🙂

DG – I think this is a wonderful strategy. I completely agree with you – if things get draggy or stop working – shake it up! That’s what I tell my dating coaching clients who are over 40 or dating after divorce. Try something different because doing the same thing and thinking you’ll get different results is the definition of insanity right? I hope you have fun meeting men across the pond and enjoy the adventure!

Way to go, DG! I’m thinking of spending a month in the South of France in a couple of years when I’m an empty nester. One great thing about being single is having the freedom to travel and explore whatever relationship may come your way.

I’ll look forward to hearing about your adventures!
